Change Management Stages

Change Management StagesChange Management StagesChange is a complex process. You must consider many issues when approaching an opportunity to change. The need forchange managementskills is a constant in the quickly changing world of organizations. The following six-stage model of change will assist you to understand change and to make changes in your work unit, department, or company effectively. The model also helps you understand the role of the change agent, the person or group that is taking primary responsibility for the accomplishment of the desired changes. An organization must complete each of the steps in the model for changes to effectively transpire. However, completion of the steps may occur in a somewhat different buchung than appears here. In some situations, the boundaries between the stages are unclear. What Affects Change Management? Organizational characteristics such as the level of employee involvement and empowerment affect how changes proceed. Units that des ire and/or have experience with a greater degree of people involvement can bring people willingly into the change process at an earlier stage. Characteristics of the changes such as size and scope, also affect the change process. Large changes require mora planning. Changes that involve a total organization will require more planningand the involvement of more people than making changes in a single department. Changes that have widespread support are easier to implement. Changes that employees view as a gain rather than as a loss are also easier to implement. When you take the right steps, involve the appropriate people, and tend to the potential impacts of change, resistance to change is reduced. These change management steps will help your organization make necessary and desired changes. Lets start with a favorite quote about change Change is hard because people overestimate the value of what they have- and underestimate the value of what they may gain by giving it up. Belasco S tayer Make sense? Fit your experience? Now, on with the change management stages. Change Management Stages These change management stages will assist you to approach change in your organization in a systematic manner that will help you effectively implement the change. Stage 1 Initiation In this stage, one or more people in the organization realize the need for change. There is a nagging feeling that something is not right. This awareness can come from many sources, both inside and outside of the organization. It can also occur at any level in the organization. The people who are most familiar with the work often have the most accurate perceptions about the need for change. Organization members may experience the need to change by viewing other organizations, benchmarking, or bringing in new senior leaders with experience in other organizations. In large organizations, sometimes changes are imposed from outside of the immediate work unit. And, any size company may need to change because of changing customer needs. Stage 2 Investigation In this stage, people in the organization begin to investigate options for change. They begin to create a einbildung or picture of what the organization could look like after the changes. They should also determine, at this stage, the readiness of the organization to change. Stage 3 Intention In this stage, the change agents in the organization decide upon the course of change. They create the vision of where the organization should be and could be in the future. Planning and definition of major strategies occur during this stage of the change process. Recognition that change always requires a change in the organizations culture is important. Stage 4 Introduction In this stage, the organization begins the changes. The organization must have goals for the change and strategies for reaching those goals. This is the stage where personal reactions are more likely to occur. Leaders must begin the change by changing. Leaders and o ther change agents must establish clear expectations for changes. Involve as many of the employees in the organization as possible in initiating and implementing the change plan. Stage 5 Implementation In this stage, the change is managed and moves forward. Recognize that all will not go perfectly. Change always takes longer than anticipated. Change activities are ignored as employees tackle their day-to-day responsibilities. Maintain constancy of purpose. The organizational systems must be redesigned to support the change. Provide recognition and rewards (positive consequences) for people who exhibit the changed behaviors. Fire people who dont participate in and support the changes sooner rather than allowing them to remain and poison your progress. One Vice President at a client company said that his biggest mistake when he was trying to transform his workplace was to allow non-supportive managers to stay 18 months. He should have fired them much sooner was his conclusion. Stage 6 Integration In this stage, the changes become the norm and are fully adopted. This may not happen for 18 months after changes are initiated. A total organization can take 2-8 years. When the changes have been successfully integrated into your organization, a new employee would not realize that the organization had changed. Follow these stages to implement changes, even organizational transformation, to ensure that the changes you want to implement are successfully integrated into the fabric of your organization.

Babbys latest move, though, has NBA GMs trembling over something far more ominous than a blustery holdout threat Budding Atlanta Hawks wingman (and Oscar Gamble progeny) Josh Childress became the first legitimate NBA player to bolt for Europe after Greeces Olympiakos CFP threw $20 million and three years at him, with housing, transportation and an annual opt-out option tossed in for good measure. Babby and fellow WC mann an ihrer seite Jim Tanner reportedly looked Across the Pond when Atlanta wouldnt sweeten its initial offer of a tad less than $6 million per year. These jobs range from traditional service jobs in restaurants and construction or education-related jobs such as summer school and one-off tutoring. But teachers heading back into the classroom this fall dont have to give up their extra summer income if they dont want to. In fact, they can use their teaching degree and experience to reinforce their career options and continue to earn a side income as educational entrepreneurs. Some tutors make $25-75+ per hour advertising their services on websites such as Wyzant, University Tutor, Varsity Tutor, and Tutor.com. Other educators sell classroom-based products through independent websites, such as Jocelyn Sams of Elementary Librarian. Sams offers a membership opportunity for access to hundreds of lesson plans and resources for elementary school librarians across the United States. Figure out who youd like to serve with your business (Other teachers? The students themselves? School districts?) and brainstorm products and services you could offer to make their lives easier.Make a time commitment. Running a small business can quickly eat up your free time. Figure out exactly how much time you need to put into your business to meet your income or productivity goals and compare that with how much time you have available for your side business. Set expectations up front to avoid burnout or dissatisfaction later.Put yourself online. Work within your network (or teach yourself) to set up your business with your LinkedIn profile or a simple, low-cost website or blog through WordPress, Wix, or SquareSpace. From Babies to the Boardroom Tips for Transitioning Stay-at-Home Moms

From Babies to the Boardroom Tips for Transitioning Stay-at-Home Moms Youve changed countless diapers and fixed bottles upon bottles. Youve fed, clothed, bathed and nurtured them. And now, after years and years of taking care of others, you desire to take care of yourself. You are a stay-at-home mother who wants to change the are to were, but how? Youve been out of work too long the younger generations have more experience. And you cant put successfully raised three children on a resume. Youre unqualified, right? WrongThe number of stay-at-home mothers re-entering the workforce continues to increase. Although many may believe their chances are slim for landing a job, there are a myriad of ways for stay-at-home mothers to prepare themselves to get back in the game. For starters, why not try an internship?Founder and CEO of InternQueen.com Lauren Berger believes starting out at an internship is a g reat way for stay-at-home mothers to ease themselves back into the corporate world. Check out her tips and suggestions for all those mothers seeking to go from handling babies to successfully handling the boardroom1. More and more stay-at-home mothers are deciding to re-enter the workforce. What do you think has caused this shift?I think for the past 4-5 years we have seen in an increase in stay-at-home moms returning to the workforce or even just going back to school and enrolling in either graduate school or going back if they hadnt finished their four year degree in the first place.2. What are some of the biggest obstacles unterstellung women face when trying to go back to work?I think one is just time and theyre really looking for something thats flexible. Believe it or not, a lot of stay-at-home moms are actually looking for internships. With stay-at-home moms I really encourage them to go after virtual internship opportunities. These are internships that they can do from home where they can still get a great experience but they can have a little more of a flexible schedule.3. What can women do who have a large employment gap on their resumes from staying home to raise children? (10+ years)I think one great thing is just really familiarizing yourself with technology. In the way that recent grads, one thing they really bring to the table is the strong knowledge of technology. I think stay-at-home moms can educate themselves as well. But one of the best ways to stay connected is to use these live tiles and pin any of the feeds youre following or the applications that you use the most to the start screen. So this is a good way to stay connected, to stay on top of the latest greatest tools and to stay on top of any job openings.4. Im 35 and have been a stay-at-home mother for the past three years. What are some of the first steps I can take to re-enter the workforce? The first step is dont take no for an answer. This is not going to be easy we already know tha t. There might be rejection we already know that. So take a deep a deep breath and really let that rejection and let those nos propel you forward until you find the yes. You really want to make aya you have a clean start. For me, about 3-4 months ago, I looked at my emaille account I had 20,000 emails. I was never going to look through them. For me, it was really important to have a fresh start. So, I signed up for Outlook.com and it really what it did, it just cleaned my inbox. So, now my goal is to have to-do list match my inbox on Outlook. So it just gave me that fresh start feeling. I gave myself a new email address (first name dot last name at outlook dot com). This is something I really recommend for job seekers. Leave your old email behind and really get a fresh start.5. What advice would you offer any stay-at-home mothers contemplating returning to work?I think this is a big step. Its going to be great. I think the more you can familiarize yourself with technology, the bette r. Again, you want to be able to tell an employer why they must hire you. Why are you so valuable? I think having that knowledge of technology and the latest and greatest tools out therelike your Windows 8, like your SkyDrivetools that enable you to stay connected wherever you are. Knowledge of tools like this is going to get you in the door. You want to make sure youre well connected, you stay on top of everything and you land that job. And remember dont take no for an answer anything is possible. Also, check out the video below
